  Students and Faculty of Bauer College of Business,University of Houston, visit Great Lakes Institute of Management A delegation of 22 students (13 MBAs and 9 senior undergraduates) accompanied by eminent faculty members and alumni from Bauer College, University of Houston visited Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai on Thursday. The team was on a study tour to India wherein they visited several leading business schools and corporates. Prof. Sriram, Executive Director of Great Lakes welcomed the delegation. There was a student’s interaction session between the students of Bauer and Great Lakes which generated lot of enthusiasm among the participants. This was a great opportunity for the students to share their experiences and learning. Also, it enabled them to get different perspectives of common issues and aspirations. Dr. Saleha Khummavala said students of Great Lakes are highly enthusiastic and passionate and invited them for research programs at Bauer. The session ended with a high tea for the visiting students and faculties.

  Great Lakes Institute of Management – Babson College – Forum on Entrepreneurship A delegation of MBA students from Babson College, MA, USA led by Mr. Bala Iyer, Associate Professor, Technology Operations and Information Management Division, Babson University visited Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai on 31st May, 2008. Babson College is the number one college in the world for “Entrepreneurship and Family Business”. The students in the delegation are currently pursuing Entrepreneurship as their stream of study. They are interested in exploring the entrepreneurial scene in India and are targeting India centric projects. Hence, they are looking for a potential collaboration with Great Lakes to further their plans. Professor Veeravalli, Director, Executive MBA, Great Lakes and Professor Sriram, Executive Director, Great Lakes presided over this meet. The meet discussed the current entrepreneurial and consulting activities undertaken by the students at Babson and Great Lakes. The program also acted as a forum where the participants discussed, exchanged and refined ideas on entrepreneurship. Prof. Veeravalli said “We plan to evolve EDF (Entrepreneurship Development Forum) into an incubation centre for aspiring entrepreneurs. At Great Lakes, we plan to introduce specific courses on entrepreneurship and make it a core subject. T S Srinivasan Electronics chair for entrepreneurship and family business will be focussing on furthering the cause of research” Prof Sriram, Executive Director PGPM Great Lakes said “Students and Management at Great Lakes are in a constant mode of exploiting opportunities in any form and this in itself is an entrepreneurial accomplishment. Great Lakes is working towards becoming more active in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in the country through tie-ups with NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network).” Mr. Ram Sukumar, CTO Indium Software and head of CII-Young India’s Chennai chapter talked at length about the various activities of Young India and their relationship with Great Lakes Institute of Management. Later, Mr. Gopal Srinivasan, MD TVS Electronics also addressed the gathering. He discussed the various similarities and differences between how entrepreneurship is perceived in India and the USA. He appreciated the extent to which Corporates in India contribute to CSR.
