Sangamithra is the bi-annual cultural event of Great Lakes Institute of Management. As the name suggests, this event is about having fun with friends. This year, Sangamithra-I happened on August 30th, Saturday at Green Meadow Resorts. This event is organized by the students to showcase their talent and enrapture the audience with the contents and diversity of their performances. A wide variety of programs including Indian Classical/contemporary/folk/western dances, music show by the Great lakes Band, Skit , mimicry etc. were lined up for the much awaited evening.
The evening was opened with an invocation song and Uncle Bala’s encouraging words to the students. Then came the music show which successfully set the mood for the evening. The audience sang along the foot tapping numbers.
Ridhima and group then gave an enthralling performance of contemporary, semi classical and folk dance. This was followed by the skit directed by Vijay and Group which kept the audience in splits for a good 20 minutes.
Next up was the energy packed dance performance by Ashwin and Group and Sathish and Group. They made sure that the audience did not lose their enthusiasm for the evening.
Uncle Bala true to his spirit sang “Kannae Kalaimaane” and dedicated the same to Great Lakes. It was an emotional moment for all.
Finally there was a salsa/jive performance by Reshma and Group. The evening ended with an amazing video on Life @ Great lakes put together by Vinod Rajan and Guru Prasanna M.
This event is very special for each student as it combines the Indian culture of dance and music with the Great Lakes culture of friendship and harmony in diversity.
